Navy, Blue, and the Light.

The site’s navy and blue stay exactly as they are on talibkhan.com. One colour changes: the light on dark surfaces becomes #6AC1FC, a sky blue with the old cyan’s brightness that still belongs to the blue family. Every number on this page is computed live from the hex values: WCAG 2 contrast and APCA lightness contrast (Lc). Back to the brand guidelines.

The core colours

Four colours and two surfaces. Each has a job; the light is the brand’s signature, so it is used for light, never for large fills on light surfaces.

The blue scale, for interfaces

One hue (OKLCH 259, the site’s blue) from 50 to 950, anchored on 600 = #245BB2, 900 = #0B1F45 and 950 = #06132C. Tints for surfaces and states (hover is 700, pressed 800); the Light stays outside the scale as the one accent.

Contrast, every pairing we will use

Body text must clear 4.5:1 and Lc 75; UI text, links and labels at 16 px and up 4.5:1 and Lc 60. Two pairings are allowed only as decoration (the letters’ depth), never as text.

Why this light: four candidates on dark

The old cyan looked bright because of its lightness, and a screen can only make a light colour that saturated toward cyan; the site’s own hue at that lightness turns pastel (D). B takes the cyan’s brightness at hue 240, between the two, so it glows like the cyan and still sits with the navy and the blue.

The rules

On light (White, Paper)

  • Text in Navy; secondary text in Soft on light.
  • Links, buttons, TECHNOLOGIES in Blue; white text on Blue buttons; hover Blue 700.
  • Light only as the letters’ depth or a glow; never as text or a button.

On dark (Deep, Navy)

  • Text in white (#EEF4FF); secondary in Soft on dark.
  • Links, buttons, TECHNOLOGIES in Light; Deep text on Light buttons.
  • Blue only as the letters’ depth or a fill behind white text; never as text on dark.

Never

  • Light and Blue as two competing accents in one view: one accent per surface.
  • The old cyan, the site’s #8AB6FA, or any other blue outside the scale.
  • Media’s red (#A62650) as an error colour: errors get their own red.
